Canada plans a flawless opening to their T20 World Cup preparations by defeating Nepal

At Dallas' Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium, the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up action got underway with Canada and Nepal.

Canada kicked up their ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 preparations with a commanding 63-run victory over Nepal.

As they prepared for their first-ever T20 World Cup, the North Americans faced obstacles and equally fought back in a perfect warm-up encounter.

Canada, who were allowed to bat first, dominated the opening innings with impressive ball striking, scoring 9.15 runs per over.

The first to emerge was Nicholas Kirton. Arriving at number four, the left-handed batsman struck four fours and two sixes in his 52 off 39 balls, which was crucial in moving Canada's innings along.

Thanks to devastating cameos from Ravinderpal Singh and Dillon Heyliger (13* off 7 balls), Canada managed to score 55 runs in the final three overs despite trailing at 135/7 in the 18th over. With a strike rate of 241.17, Ravinderpal's remarkable 41* off 17 balls, which featured four sixes and a four, helped Canada to a score of 183/7.

The only batsman from Nepal who appeared at ease in the middle was Anil Sah, who batted at a strike rate of 150 for his 24 overs. However, Sah was bowled out by Pargat Singh to Navneet Dhaliwal.

Captain Rohit Paudel (1), Sundeep Jora (6), and Gulshan Jha (0), who made up the middle order, all returned to the pavilion with a score of only one.

Heyliger went back to work with the ball and took four wickets for twenty runs. An all-around display by Canada saw them bowl Nepal out for 120 runs and win by 63 runs.
