The spinners put up a great fightback

Canada's only hope of getting back into the match was to take wickets. Although Kaleem Sana and Dilon Heyliger have been successful in providing breakthroughs in this series, it was the turn of the spinners to wreak havoc this time.

Thaker, who had already dismissed both openers, triggered a collapse with the wicket of McMullen. Thaker came around the wicket to the right-hander and ended the 24th over with a ball that pitched on leg stump and straightened. This induced a flick from Scotland's No. 3 straight to Bin Zafar at short midwicket. Bin Zafar then went straight through Michael Leask. Opening bowler Ammar Khalid returned to the attack and breached the defence of wicket-keeper Matthew Cross. Heyliger also drew an edge from captain Berrington, which was caught by keeper Srimantha Wijeyeratne.

Nicholas Kirton's off-spin dismissed Scott Currie, caught by Wijeyeratne. Khalid clean-bowled Safyaan Sharif. Scotland lost six wickets for 31 runs and were reeling at 155/8. Brad Wheal's counter-attacking 24 helped Scotland reach 197.

Thaker finished with impressive figures of 3 wickets for 41 runs in 10 overs, while Bin Zafar took 2 wickets for 44 runs in 9 overs. Although Scotland's opening partnership was significant, Canada's opening bowlers, Kaleem Sana, and Khalid, finished with a combined total of 3 wickets for 49 runs in 15.3 overs.
