Surrey County Cricket Club Partners with Champagne Pommery

Surrey County Cricket Club (SCCC) has entered a multi-year partnership with Champagne Pommery, designating it as the Official Champagne Partner of The Kia Oval.

Traditionally, beer and rosé are the popular choices for spectators enjoying a sunny day at the cricket, with many making frequent trips to the bar. However, this new partnership might see fine champagne becoming a preferred option for visitors to The Oval.

Facilitated by Footprint Sports & Entertainment, this collaboration will make Pommery’s Champagnes available as an upgrade in box seats and in concourse wine bars. During international matches at The Oval, the Duchy Suite will also serve Pommery’s Champagnes.

Starting in 2025, the offering will expand to include Louis Pommery English Sparkling Wine. Pommery was the first Champagne house to produce sparkling wine in England, acquiring a vineyard in Hampshire in 2016 and establishing Pinglestone Estate near Alresford. While Surrey fans might set aside any regional rivalry with Hampshire when it comes to the wines, their sports loyalty remains unchanged.

SCCC chief executive Steve Elworthy remarked that Pommery’s reputation for excellence and innovation will significantly enhance the experience for members and guests at The Kia Oval. He expressed anticipation for a successful and dynamic partnership.

Beyond offering its sparkling wines at the stadium, Pommery will also feature in-ground advertising, hospitality, ticket provisions, and social media promotions. Brand ambassadors will host tastings at The Oval, giving SCCC members the opportunity to sample exclusive cuvées.

Vranken Pommery UK chief executive Julien Lonneux stated that becoming the official champagne partner of The Kia Oval and SCCC is a significant honour for Pommery. He expressed excitement about bringing their exquisite champagnes to the cricket community and contributing to the celebration of the sport at such an iconic venue.
