Somerset Signs Scotland's Charlie Cassell for One-Day Cup
Somerset has brought in Scotland's fast bowler Charlie Cassell on a short-term contract to play in the One-Day Cup. The 25-year-old paceman joins the team just in time for their match against Durham on Wednesday, and will be available through the semi-finals of the competition.
Cassell, who debuted for Scotland on July 22 against Oman, made a stunning impact by taking 7 wickets for 21 runs in just 5.4 overs, setting a record for the best bowling figures by a debutant in a one-day international.
His addition to Somerset's squad comes as Migael Pretorius has been called up to the South Africa Test squad, and Riley Meredith is participating in The Hundred. Somerset's director of cricket, Andy Hurry, expressed that Cassell's presence would enhance the bowling unit and help manage the workload of the bowlers during the busy schedule, ensuring they remain fresh and at their best.
