Rashid Khan Reprimanded for Code of Conduct Breach
Afghanistan's captain Rashid Khan received a reprimand from the ICC for a level 1 code of conduct breach during the Super Eight match against Bangladesh in Kingstown on July 24.
The incident occurred in the 20th over of Afghanistan's innings, when Rashid threw his bat towards his teammate Karim Janat after being sent back while attempting a second run. Consequently, Rashid was penalised with one demerit point, his first in 24 months. Level 1 breaches can lead to a reprimand or a fine of up to 50% of a player's match fee and one or two demerit points.
Despite the incident, Rashid scored 19 off 10 balls and took 4 for 23, leading Afghanistan to an eight-run victory via the DLS method, securing their first semi-final appearance at a T20 World Cup. Afghanistan will face South Africa in Trinidad on June 26.
