Questions remain over the ideal T20 batting order

With that in mind, one of the big questions this series has raised is what the ideal T20 batting line-up should look like.

Canada started the series with the same batting line-up that won four straight ODIs against the UAE and Scotland, and while their strengths in the format are obvious, their middle-order batting could use some improvement throughout the series. Six-hitting has become a crucial aspect of T20 batting, and while Canada nearly matched the USA in the four-hitting department with 58 fours to the Americans' 61, the Red and White finished with 23 sixes to the USA's 32. Johnson was responsible for nine of Canada's 23 sixes.

Batting at number 3, Pargat Singh's struggles didn't help matters. He scored 62 runs in the four matches, averaging 15.40 at a strike rate of 92.54. Nicholas Kirton failed to capitalise on his starts throughout the series, reaching 20 on three occasions but failing to break 30. He was unlucky in the final match, showing good intent with three quality hits to the fence in 11 balls, but was run out after a miscommunication with Harsh Thaker at the other end. A quality batsman who also happens to be left-handed, Kirton is a vital piece of the Canadian batting puzzle.

Srimantha Wijeyeratne has been dismissed for single figures in each of his three opening matches, while Navneet Dhaliwal has been dropped after a duck and a six in the first two matches. Shreyas Movva was given a chance and fell for a golden duck, but his batting has the potential to fit perfectly into the game as we know it today, full of scoop shots and reverse sweeps. To this point in his career, however, he has scored 102 in T20s and 75 in the one-day format.

Dilpreet Bajwa showed what he's capable of on two occasions, scoring 52 off 41 as an opener on Friday and then adapting quickly to bat at number 6 on Saturday, scoring 33 off 24 with four fours and a six.
