Pathirana must intervene

Once again, Mumbai seemed poised to easily chase down a target of around 200 runs after quickly dismissing RCB for 196 in just 15.3 overs. Rohit and Ishan Kishan batted smoothly and aggressively, scoring 70 runs in just seven overs without breaking a sweat.

Pathirana, who was returning from an injury break, changed the game with his sensational bowling. Although Kishan got lucky with a loose ball on the pads and hit it precisely to midwicket, just a few feet off the boundary boards, Pathirana quickly regained his form and dominated the rest of the match.  He welcomed Suryakumar Yadav with a 151.2kmph wide yorker, followed by a wide bouncer with the deep third placed fine just for the ramp. Mustafizur Rahman provided the assist, taking it overhead, flicking it back up, stepping outside, and returning to take the catch.
