Niroshan Dickwella Suspended for Doping Violation
Sri Lanka wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella has been suspended following a doping violation, as confirmed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in an official statement. The test, conducted by Sri Lanka's Anti-Doping Agency (SLADA) during this year's Lanka Premier League (LPL), led to Dickwella's immediate suspension, which will remain in effect until further notice.
The official release emphasised that this initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and in line with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) guidelines, with the aim of keeping cricket free from prohibited substances. The statement also highlighted that SLC, along with the Ministry of Sports and SLADA, conducts random anti-doping tests during domestic tournaments to protect the integrity of the sport.
Dickwella was the captain of the Galle Marvels in the LPL 2024.
