New Vitality T20 Women's County Cup
The 2025 Vitality T20 Women's County Cup competition is set to provide a thrilling new format for domestic women's cricket in England and Wales, with 37 teams preparing to compete. The knockout tournament will take place in May, culminating in Finals Day at Taunton on May 26, 2025.
In a revamped structure for women's cricket, Tier 1 teams will enter the competition at Round Three, but lower-tier sides will have the opportunity to eliminate them en route to the finals. Round One begins on May 5, followed by Round Two on May 10. The competition guarantees at least two teams from Tier 2 or Tier 3 will reach the quarter-finals, which will take place on May 24.
One exciting match-up to look forward to is the clash between Surrey and Hampshire Hawks in Round Three on May 17, with England batter Danni Wyatt-Hodge, recently transferred to Surrey, expressing her excitement about the competition.
"It's massive, it makes every game very exciting, FA-Cup style," Wyatt-Hodge said. "Women's cricket is going to the next level in England, and it's great to be a part of it."
The first round also promises a fierce rivalry with Middlesex facing Kent, both teams having missed out on Tier 1 status for the 2025-2028 cycle.
The T20 Women's County Cup will run alongside the Vitality Blast women's competition, which exclusively features Tier 1 sides. Full fixtures will be released on Thursday, and cricket fans can expect an action-packed month of May.
