New Heroes to Emerge in Netherlands, USA Squads for League 2 Tri-Series
The squads for the upcoming tri-series in Cricket World Cup League 2, featuring the Netherlands, USA, and Canada, have been finalised. This series offers a chance for new talents to shine, as some big names will be absent.
Netherlands Squad
The Netherlands will miss several key players who participated in the recent ICC Men's T20 World Cup in the USA and Caribbean. Notable absentees include Teja Nidamanuru, Bas de Leede, Logan van Beek, Tim Pringle, and Fred Klaassen. Veteran all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe and key batter Colin Ackermann are also not included. However, Musa and Shariz Ahmad have been recalled to the squad.
USA Squad
Similarly, the USA will be without three of their top performers from the T20 World Cup. Saurabh Netravalkar and Andries Gous are on parental leave, and veteran all-rounder Corey Anderson is another significant absentee.
Canada Squad
Canada's squad, announced last month, will be led by new skipper Nicholas Kirton, taking over from Saad Bin Zafar, who captained the side at the T20 World Cup. The team has also seen the departure of long-term coach Pubudu Dassanayake.
Tri-Series Context
All three teams participated in June's T20 World Cup and aim to build on their performances as they strive to qualify for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in 2027. The tri-series will take place in Voorburg from August 11-21, featuring six ODIs.
