Manx Triumph in Finale in Canada
Over three decades ago, the Manx cricket team claimed a sensational victory against the Australian Quantas side in an unforgettable final. Quantas batted first, posting a respectable score of 104 for 2. Chasing a target of 105, the Manx team got off to a disastrous start, with openers Graham Wilson and Phil Stevenson both dismissed without scoring a single run.
However, the game took a turn when Martin Webb and Jamie Tomlinson stepped in. Displaying smart and calculated batting, the duo slowly rebuilt the innings, inching their team closer to an unlikely victory.
With just two deliveries remaining and six runs needed, Martin Webb struck the second-to-last ball for six, securing a thrilling win for the Manx side. Webb finished the match unbeaten on 73, sealing a dramatic victory for his team.
