Leading role for Bin Zafar
After conceding 29 runs off his 10 overs and taking a wicket, Bin Zafar walked to the crease with Canada under pressure. He put on 49 runs alongside Kirton, soaking up the pressure and virtually ensuring a win for the Canadians.
Despite being capable of playing big shots, Bin Zafar resisted the urge and did exactly what was required. Although he only scored 10 runs off his first 32 balls, he needed not to get out in that situation. The run rate was not a concern, and by holding up one end while Kirton kept the scoreboard ticking over on the other, Canada's position steadily improved.
Now, Canada can claim a successful start to their ICC World Cup League 2 campaign and aim to maintain their momentum in the match against a formidable Scotland.
