Kent Signs Tom Rogers for Vitality T20 Blast Group Stage
Kent has secured the services of Melbourne Renegades seamer Tom Rogers for the upcoming block of Vitality T20 Blast group games.
Rogers, aged 30, brings several years of experience from the Big Bash League with both the Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes. However, this marks his first experience in county cricket. Throughout his T20 career, Rogers has taken 60 wickets at an average of 24.78 and an economy rate of 8.38.
"We're pleased to have got Tom on board to shore up our bowling options going into the 'business end' of this South Group stage," remarked Kent's director of cricket, Simon Cook. "He has a lot of experience and has skills that will be useful to us with both the ball and the bat, too."
Rogers' addition is timely, as Kent needed reinforcement in their bowling lineup. Xavier Bartlett was available only for the first eight group games, and Wes Agar had to return to Australia early due to a shoulder injury.
Currently, Kent sits second from the bottom in the South Group, having secured two wins. Despite their position, they remain in contention for a top-four finish.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Rogers said, "I'm grateful for the opportunity to play in the Vitality Blast, and I'm excited to be joining Kent. We know that every game is vital for us now, and I want to do my part in getting results as a Spitfire in the near future."
