Jasprit Bumrah expressed his desire to play for Canada instead of India

Jasprit Bumrah arrived on the Indian cricket scene at a time when fast bowling was gaining prominence. With a previous dependence on spin, Captain Virat Kohli and Coach Ravi Shastri aimed to create a fast bowling unit capable of challenging the world. Jasprit Bumrah became the face of that revolution. “We have discussed this before. Like most boys, you dreamed of becoming a star cricket player for India. Yet the chances are slim, with so many talented youth harboring the same ambition in every neighborhood. You need a practical backup plan. I completed my education while weighing options. Initially, we considered emigrating as a family, but my mother was hesitant about the cultural differences abroad. Fortunately, things aligned favorably here, otherwise I would have tried to play international cricket for Canada and do something there. I feel tremendously grateful to represent India and the Mumbai Indians. With perseverance, one can achieve their goals, even if the path involves detours.”
