In April, Canada will play a bilateral T20I series against the United States
Canada's preparation for the men's T20 World Cup will intensify in April following a successful run in the ICC Men's ODI World Cup League 2.
On March 14th, it was confirmed that Canada will play a five-match T20I bilateral series against the USA in Houston. The matches are scheduled for April 7, 9, 10, 12, and 13 at Prairie View Cricket Complex.
The Canadian squad will travel to Houston for a pre-series training camp on March 28, although the squad has yet to be announced.
Cricket Canada General Manager Ingleton Liburd stated:
“We are thrilled to have the upcoming T20I series with the USA as we start our preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, West Indies, and USA. Cricket Canada and USA Cricket have had a long-standing relationship, therefore these matches help to solidify our relations as we look forward to playing more cricket across all levels.”
Canada is grouped with the USA in Group A for the T20 World Cup, alongside India, Pakistan, and Ireland. The opening match of the tournament will be between the USA and Canada in Dallas on June 1.
The Canadian men's team is currently in high spirits, having recently defeated Scotland and the UAE twice each in the ODI format, resulting in a rise from 20th to 17th in the ODI rankings. Canada is currently ranked 20th in the T20I rankings, ahead of the USA in 23rd.
