ICC Introduces ICC Immersive: A New Era in Cricket Viewing
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled ICC Immersive, a groundbreaking app set to revolutionise how fans engage with cricket. This innovative app, developed in collaboration with sports technology pioneer Quidich, promises to bring fans closer to the action than ever before. Launching during the thrilling Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, ICC Immersive is available exclusively to users of Apple Vision Pro.
Utilising the advanced capabilities of the Apple Vision Pro, cricket enthusiasts in the USA can experience the vibrant energy of live matches right from their homes. This app offers a virtual stadium experience, enhanced with interactive data overlays and vivid visualisations that capture the essence of being at the game. Leveraging state-of-the-art tracking technology and multiple data sources, ICC Immersive creates a detailed and realistic replication of the stadium environment. Fans will enjoy a full 360-degree view of the action, alongside the ability to revisit the tournament's most exciting moments, including the dramatic Super Eights and the high-stakes India-Pakistan showdown. The immersive experience spans all seven World Cup venues across the USA and the West Indies, prominently featuring the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. This virtual stadium, with its 34,000-seat capacity, offers drone fly-throughs and highlight reels, making it a central hub for fans.
ICC Immersive goes beyond just watching cricket; it provides a firsthand simulation of facing the world's elite bowlers, allowing fans to feel as if they are right in the heart of the action.
Commenting on the app's launch, Finn Bradshaw, ICC Head of Digital, noted that they are continually exploring new technologies and data to bring fans closer to the game. He highlighted that the Apple Vision Pro offered a unique opportunity to create fully immersive experiences. Bradshaw expressed confidence that this app would deepen the engagement of existing fans with the sport and serve as an educational tool for the many new fans following the success of matches in the USA.
Rahat Kulshreshtha, co-founder of Quidich, pinpointed that by combining the 2.2 million data points gathered for every T20 match with the ICC's extensive global reach, they are offering an unmatched experience for cricket aficionados worldwide. He remarked that the ICC Immersive app, developed in their innovation lab in Goa, India, 13,000 km away from the action, aims to revolutionise sports broadcasting technology and redefine how sports are enjoyed.
In summary, ICC Immersive promises to transform the way cricket is consumed, providing fans with a deeply engaging and interactive viewing experience that bridges the gap between the stadium and their living rooms.
