Dilpreet Bajwa Makes History in GT20 Canada 2024 with Century
In a historic moment for GT20 Canada 2024, Montreal Tigers opener Dilpreet Bajwa became the first Canadian to score a century in the league's history. The 23-year-old achieved this milestone against the Brampton Wolves at the CAA Centre Brampton in Ontario, taking just 53 balls to reach the hundred. His crucial innings came at a pivotal moment when the Tigers were struggling at 95/5 in 15 overs. Bajwa's aggressive play helped his team add 71 runs in the last five overs, leading to a total that proved too much for their opponents, ultimately securing a 42-run victory.
Reflecting on his performance after being named Player of the Match, Bajwa shared that it was an incredible feeling to score the tournament's first century. He credited the team captain for advising him to accelerate the game during the break, which he did successfully, particularly targeting the 19th over to add crucial runs.
Montreal Tigers captain Chris Lynn, who has led the team to three consecutive victories in the tournament, praised Bajwa's outstanding performance. He acknowledged the team's well-rounded abilities, highlighting the balance between batters, bowlers, and all-rounders. Lynn expressed satisfaction with the team's current form but emphasised the need to focus on improving certain aspects of bowling and fielding. He concluded by expressing his happiness with the win and the team's overall performance.
