Colin Munro Re-Signs with Brisbane Heat Until 2026

Colin Munro has secured a multi-year contract with the Brisbane Heat, committing to the Big Bash League franchise until 2026. The dynamic left-handed batter from New Zealand, who retired from international cricket in May, will be available for all of Brisbane Heat's matches.

Previously, Munro’s commitments with the Desert Vipers in the ILT20 prevented him from participating in the full BBL seasons. However, his new contract ensures his availability for the entire season, including potential finals matches.

Munro boasts an impressive record in T20 cricket, having scored 10,961 runs at a strike rate of 141.25 across 428 matches. In January 2018, he became the first player to achieve three T20I centuries, reaching this milestone with a score of 104 off 53 balls against the West Indies. He is also the second fastest to hit 100 T20I sixes, taking just 963 balls, only behind Evin Lewis.

Following their victory in the 2023-24 Big Bash season, Brisbane Heat hopes that Munro's retention will bolster their chances of defending their title. Munro expressed his excitement about rejoining the squad and the opportunities the upcoming summer holds.

He remarked that the squad's strength and the potential for improvement are motivating factors for the season ahead. Munro is particularly enthusiastic about playing at a packed Gabba, highlighting the support from fans and the joy of performing in front of family and friends.

"It's a strong squad again, and I'm looking forward to being part of what we can build together. There are always opportunities to get better, and as a group, we should be excited about the new goals we will pursue this summer. Playing at a packed Gabba again, especially in front of family and friends, is such a highlight, and the way the fans have embraced the team in the past few seasons has been brilliant to experience,'' Munro shared.
