Canada got off to a winning start against the hosts in the UAE

In its opening match of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup League 2, Canada defeated the United Arab Emirates by three wickets in Dubai.

After winning the toss, Canada's bowlers elected to bowl first and did a superb job, bowling UAE out for 194 inside the 50 overs. Despite the tricky pitch, Canada's bowlers prevented the opposition from settling in, resulting in UAE being bowled out with over two overs to spare and unable to put up a competitive total.

During the chase, Nicholas Kirton and Srimantha Wijeyeratne both scored half-centuries. Kirton was awarded Player of the Match for remaining unbeaten and leading the chase after coming in with less than 50 runs on the board.

Next Canada will face Scotland.
