Canada comes agonisingly close to beating Nepal in 1st ODI
Canada opened their three-match ODI series against Nepal in a nail-biting fashion, losing by seven runs to the hosts despite looking in control until late on.
Nepal won the toss and elected to bat first. They were bowled out for a sub-par 224 all out in 50 overs. Chasing 51 runs from their final 17 overs with six wickets to spare, Canada looked set for victory before disaster struck, bowling them out for 217 with 2.1 overs to spare.
Captain Saad Bin Zafar at the post-match presentation said that he thought the team played good cricket for the majority of the day, it's just the last session which went against them. He thought the wicket had a bit of a turn at the end and Rohit [Paudel] bowled exceptionally well, picking up wickets at the right time.
Rohit Paudel's bowling figures of 8.5-2-22-4 earned him the player of the match.
The next match is on Friday at 22:30 EST.
