Beaumont’s Century Powers England

Tammy Beaumont's unbeaten 150 led England Women to a commanding 275-run victory against Ireland, securing the series with a 2-0 lead and marking England's largest-ever win in ODIs.

Beaumont faced 139 balls, smashing 16 fours and a six as England posted a daunting total of 320 for 8, before bowling out Ireland for just 45, their lowest score in ODIs. England wrapped up the game at Stormont with 33.1 overs remaining.

Captain Kate Cross, who had delivered career-best figures in both batting and bowling in the first ODI, again shone by taking 3 for 8 in four overs, contributing to Ireland’s swift collapse. Both Cross and Beaumont, omitted from England’s T20 World Cup squad, have been pivotal in this second-string England side touring Ireland. The main squad is currently preparing for the World Cup in Abu Dhabi.

Beaumont’s 10th ODI century puts her at the top of England’s list for most centuries in the format, surpassing Nat Sciver-Brunt and Charlotte Edwards. Globally, she now ranks third, only behind Meg Lanning (15) and Suzie Bates (13).

Despite recent setbacks, including losing her spot in England’s T20 side, Beaumont has been in impressive form. She was the top scorer in The Hundred and achieved a double century in last year’s Ashes Test. After the match, Beaumont admitted that she played through mid-innings back spasms but highlighted that she no longer feels the need to prove herself.

"I’ve spent my whole career proving people wrong, but now I’m playing for myself and my team," Beaumont said. "I’ve broken records, and I’m just focused on enjoying the game."

Beaumont also praised Cross for her leadership, stating that while she wasn’t disappointed at missing the chance to captain, she was proud to help mentor younger players on the tour.

Freya Kemp, who was sent to Ireland to regain form after a challenging season in The Hundred, also played a key role. She contributed 65 in a century stand with Beaumont for the fourth wicket and hit two sixes in her 47-ball innings—her highest score in white-ball cricket for England. Kemp, having recently returned from a back injury, also took 2 for 7 in her three overs.

Quick bowler Lauren Filer, who was also overlooked for the T20 World Cup, impressed by taking 3 for 10, while debutant Georgia Davis wrapped up Ireland’s innings with 2 for 19, sealing a dominant performance by England.
