Bangladesh Cricket Board Denies Afif Hossain NOC for Global T20 2024

In a notable development, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has refused to grant a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to prominent white-ball batter Afif Hossain for the ongoing Global T20 Canada 2024. Known for his impressive stroke play, Afif had sought the NOC to participate in the esteemed franchise league.

However, the BCB has blocked his participation in the tournament. A BCB official explained that Afif is needed to lead the Bangladesh High-Performance Unit's white-ball squad in a Tri-series featuring the Pakistan Shaheens and Northern Territory Strike in Australia.

The official remarked, “Afif requested an NOC to play in the Global T20, but we couldn’t grant it because he is the captain of the HP Unit’s one-day squad and also part of the T20 squad for the subsequent tournament. Had he applied earlier, we might have made alternative arrangements.”

Meanwhile, notable Bangladesh players participating in the Global T20 include the legendary all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and top left-arm seamer Shoriful Islam. Both players represent the Bangla Tigers Mississauga and will soon rejoin the national team for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan.
