Bangladesh Clinch Historic T20I Sweep with Jaker’s Heroics
Bangladesh secured their first 3-0 T20I series victory in nearly two years, defeating West Indies by 80 runs in the third match at Arnos Vale. The visitors, led by Jaker Ali’s unbeaten 72 and collective bowling performance, bowled the hosts out for a mere 109—their lowest total against Bangladesh.
Jaker’s knock, featuring six sixes and three fours, propelled Bangladesh to a competitive 189 for 7, their highest T20I score in the West Indies. His innings followed a dramatic moment when a mix-up with Shamim Hossain initially saw Jaker walk off, believing himself run out. However, a review revealed Shamim was the one dismissed, allowing Jaker to return and steer his team to a commanding position.
Bangladesh started strongly, with Parvez Hossain Emon replacing the injured Soumya Sarkar and hitting a brisk 39 off 21 balls. His aggressive approach set the tone, giving the visitors their best powerplay of the series.
The West Indies batting line-up struggled once again, losing half their side before reaching 50. Rishad Hossain led Bangladesh’s bowling with three wickets, while Mahedi Hasan and Taskin Ahmed provided key breakthroughs. Johnson Charles and Nicholas Pooran briefly resisted but failed to build partnerships, with Pooran falling to Mahedi for the third consecutive time in the series.
Bangladesh’s dominant all-around performance capped off their tour on a high note, marking a significant achievement in their T20I history.
