According to The Telegraph, India has been drawn in Group A of the 2024 T20 World Cup against Pakistan, USA, Canada and Ireland. The tournament will take place between 4 and 20 June and will be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies.
Twenty teams divided into four groups will take part in the tournament. The top two teams in each group will qualify for what is known as the Super Eight stage.
The report added that the Super Eight draw was predetermined for each team. For example, if England qualifies as one of the top two teams in Group A, they will be placed in B1. Their three opponents will be drawn accordingly. Pre-tournament rankings are used to determine these seedings. This was done so that fans could plan ahead.
England and Australia are drawn together in Group B. Namibia, Scotland and Oman join them. All group matches are played in the Caribbean. Likewise, all the matches in Group A will be played in the USA.
South Africa will be paired with the Netherlands in Group D alongside three Asian sides in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, while New Zealand and the West Indies will be paired with Afghanistan, Uganda and Papua New Guinea in Group C.
According to other reports, India will open their campaign against Ireland on 4 June. On 9 June in New York, the Men in Blue will play their much-anticipated clash with Pakistan. They are likely to play their Super Eight matches in Barbados, which is also likely to host the final of the tournament.
