Shaheen Afridi Faces Allegations of Misconduct

Reports have surfaced alleging that Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi misbehaved with head coach Gary Kirsten and other support staff members during the Ireland-England tour and the T20 World Cup 2024. The claims suggest that despite Afridi’s inappropriate behaviour towards Kirsten and Azhar Mahmood, no disciplinary action was taken by the team managers during these events.

The report also indicated that several players in the Pakistan cricket team are under investigation following complaints from coaches about lobbying and lack of seriousness during recent competitions. It was noted that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is examining the influence of player lobbies and the advantages gained from them. Coaches have reportedly raised these concerns with the PCB chairman, highlighting disciplinary violations and lack of commitment among players on recent tours.

In response to the team's poor performance in the T20 World Cup, the PCB has dismissed former Test players Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from the selection committee. This committee, lacking a chairman, included the national team captain, head coach, and a data analyst.

The PCB issued a statement confirming that Razzaq and Riaz have been informed their services are no longer needed in the national selection committee setup. Razzaq was part of both the men's and women's selection committees, while Riaz was involved with the men's panel. The PCB stated that further updates on the composition of the selection committee will be provided in due course.
