From the outset, it was clear that the Scottish team was determined to make up for their earlier loss to Canada. George Munsey and Charlie Tear appeared confident at the top of the order, with Munsey in particular scoring boundaries at the right time to maintain Scotland's brisk pace.
The opening pair put together a solid foundation for Brandon McMullen and captain Richie Berrington to build on, scoring 61 runs in 12.3 overs for the first wicket. McMullen and Berrington operated similarly, with McMullen attacking the Canadian bowlers and finding boundaries while Berrington played the anchor role.
At 120/2 after 23 overs, Canada faced a target of over 250, the highest chase of the series. This would be an uphill task for the batters, to say the least.
