Left-arm spinner Nosthush Kenjige took three wickets, while captain Monank Patel and Andries Gous scored fifties, leading USA to a six-wicket win against Canada in Prairie View.
Canada, batting first, managed only 132 runs in 20 overs. Although several batters made starts, they failed to build any significant partnerships as USA took wickets at regular intervals. Canada reached their total thanks to a late 16-ball 29 from captain Saad Bin Zafar, who hit four fours and a six. USA's Kenjige was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 for 21, while Saurabh Netravalkar and Shadley van Schalkwyk took two wickets each.
USA started their chase well, with Steven Taylor and Monank adding 47 for the opening wicket in 6.4 overs before Taylor was dismissed for 22. However, the USA did not lose momentum as Monank and Gous batted Canada out of the game with a 57-run partnership.
Monank hit seven fours and a six during his innings of 50, while Gous scored a 35-ball 50 with five fours and three sixes. Dillon Heyliger eventually dismissed both batsmen in quick succession, but the USA had little trouble achieving the target, as they overtook it with 15 balls to spare.
