According to head coach Justin Langer, Mayank Yadav will not be playing in Lucknow Super Giants' next two games. Langer expects the fast bowler to return to bowling soon, however. The team's next fixture is against Delhi Capitals.
Mayank walked off the field after bowling only one over in LSG's previous match against Gujarat Titans on Sunday. The team's chief executive reported the following day that Mayank had experienced soreness in his lower abdominal area and that his workload would be managed.
Langer said in a press conference on Thursday:
"He felt a little bit of tightness at the top of his hip leading into the last game, but that was about a one-out-of-ten pain, and we thought that there were clinical signs. Everything through the doctors and the physios seemed perfectly okay. He bowled that first over [against Titans] and started feeling something in his hip.”
LSG have an away game just two days after hosting DC, against Kolkata Knight Riders in a day game at Eden Gardens. According to Langer, the short turnaround and travel make it more challenging for Mayank to recover.
