Marsh has returned to Australia after tearing his right hamstring

Delhi Capitals all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has returned to Australia to treat a partial tear in his right hamstring. ESPNcricinfo understands that Marsh, who is in line to be named Australia's captain for the upcoming T20 World Cup, was recalled by Cricket Australia after consultation with the IPL team.

Marsh has not played in DC's last two matches, against the Mumbai Indians on  April 7 and in Friday's match against the Lucknow Super Giants. His last match was on April 3 in Visakhapatnam where DC suffered a 106-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders after conceding 272 runs. Marsh was out for a duck in that game following moderate returns of 20, 23 and 18 in the first three matches.

Immediately after the loss to MI, he departed for Australia. It is understood that a final decision has not yet been taken as to whether or not Marsh will be dropped from the 2024 IPL.

CA has carefully managed Marsh over the last 12 months since he returned to being a three-format player. This culminated in him winning the Allan Border Medal as Australia's best men's player of the year for 2023.
