Sunil Narine smashed 81 off 39 deliveries and Ramandeep Singh faced just six balls, hitting 25. Phil Salt, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Shreyas Iyer also played aggressive innings. All this helped Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to 235 for 6 in their 20 overs, a total that was always going to be difficult to surpass in Lucknow - one of the lower-scoring venues in the 2024 IPL.
Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) innings didn't really take off. There was a 50-run second-wicket partnership between KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis, but even that was too slow (it took 33 balls) to cause KKR any serious problems. Once that stand was broken, the innings quickly unravelled, with the last nine wickets falling for 67 runs as the required rate spiralled out of control.
Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana took three wickets apiece. Andre Russell took two. Ramandeep took two catches, the first of which was one of the most spectacular of the season.
