Sanju Samson was left devastated after Rajasthan Royals lost to Gujarat Titans. The hosts were in a winning position until the 15th over of the innings, but sensational hitting from Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, and Rashid Khan not only dismissed RR but also secured their team's third win.
Rajasthan was guilty of not completing their 20 overs on time and was penalised by the on-field umpires. Samson's side were allowed to field four instead of five fielders outside the thirty-yard circle in the final over of the innings.
That, too, proved crucial as they went on to lose. And now the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sanctioned the RR captain.
He has been fined INR 12 lakh for his team's slow over rate in their match against Gujarat Titans.
Shubman Gill asked the Royals to bat first after winning the toss. Samson and Riyan Parag took the Royals to 196/3 in 20 overs after the early dismissals of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler.
Parag was the top scorer with 76 off the bat. He faced 48 balls and hit 5 sixes and 3 fours. Sanju was unbeaten on 68 off 38 deliveries, hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes.
Chasing 197 for a third wicket, Shubman added 72 runs to the total. He hit 6 fours and 2 sixes and faced 44 deliveries.
But it was Shahrukh (14 off 8), Tewatia (22 off 11), and Rashid (24 not out off 11) who won the match for the Titans.
