BCCI Reschedules India’s Home Season Matches

The BCCI has made adjustments to India's upcoming home season, including shifting the first T20I against Bangladesh on October 6 from Dharamsala to Gwalior, and swapping the venues for the first and second T20Is against England, which will now be held in Kolkata and Chennai, respectively, in January 2025.

The decision to move the first T20I against Bangladesh from Dharamsala to Gwalior was prompted by ongoing "upgrades and renovation work in the dressing rooms" at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, as stated by the BCCI. This marks the second time in two years that an international match has been relocated from Dharamsala. In February 2023, the third Test between India and Australia was moved to Indore due to an unprepared outfield in Dharamsala.

The match against Bangladesh will be the first international game held at the newly built Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior and the first in the city since 2010, when Sachin Tendulkar scored his historic double-century in ODIs. For England's 2025 tour of India, the venues for the first T20I on January 22 and the second on January 25 have been swapped, with Chennai now hosting the opener and Kolkata the follow-up. This change was made following a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal due to their commitments related to Republic Day.

India's 2024-25 home international season kicks off with two Tests and three T20Is against Bangladesh from September 19 to October 12, followed by New Zealand's visit for three Tests from October 16 to November 5. After that, India will tour Australia for five Test matches between November 22 and January 7. Upon their return, they will host England for five T20Is and three ODIs from January 22 to February 12. The ODIs against England will be India’s only scheduled 50-over matches ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
