Ajay Ratra Joins India's Men's Selection Committee

Former India wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra has been appointed to the national men's selection committee. The BCCI's Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which includes Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra, and Jatin Paranjape, selected him to replace Salil Ankola.

In early 2024, reports emerged suggesting that the BCCI was searching for a new selector from the North Zone, as one of the current members was not expected to receive an extension. Ankola was seen as the likely departure since both he and Ajit Agarkar, the current head of the selection committee, represented the same zone (West).

Ratra, who represented India in 6 Tests and 12 ODIs, has gained valuable experience in the domestic circuit as head coach for teams like Assam, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh. He also served as part of India's support staff during the ODI series in South Africa in 2023.
