The West Indies have named their 15-player squad for December’s white-ball series in India, retaining most players from the recent T20 World Cup but missing a key all-rounder due to injury.
Stafanie Taylor, one of the team's most experienced players, will not be part of the six-match tour, which includes three T20Is and three ODIs in Mumbai and Vadodara. Taylor, who sustained a knee injury during last month’s ICC Women's T20 World Cup, remains sidelined, with the full details of her condition undisclosed.
Hayley Matthews will continue to captain the side, while former skipper Deandra Dottin returns to the ODI format after a two-year hiatus. Dottin, known for her power-hitting, made a stunning comeback in the T20 World Cup, leading the six-hitting charts with nine maximums.
The squad also sees pacer Shabika Gajnabi and wicketkeeper-batter Rashada Williams back in action, both having missed the T20 World Cup. Coach Shane Deitz expressed optimism, highlighting the team’s progress and their strong performance in reaching the semi-finals of the T20 showcase in the UAE.
Deitz emphasised the importance of consistency and sees the India series as a valuable opportunity to compete against a top side. He also underlined the potential benefits of showcasing players in front of Indian IPL franchises, aiming to open doors for more West Indies women cricketers in global leagues.
The tour begins in December, with the team eager to build on their recent momentum.
