USA Cricket has announced an exciting tour for the women’s national team, who will face Zimbabwe in a 5-match ODI series from October 17th to 28th, 2024. Zimbabwe is currently ranked 14th in Women's ODI cricket, and this series presents a significant challenge for the USA team.
Since gaining ODI status in 2022, USA has played just two ODIs, and the team is eager to build on their experience from the earlier ODI series this year against Papua New Guinea and Scotland in the UAE.
This marks USA’s second tour to Zimbabwe, the first being in 2021 for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, which was cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In terms of head-to-head results, USA and Zimbabwe are tied at 1-1 in this format, although neither match was classified as an official ODI at the time since the USA only achieved ODI status in 2022. USA famously triumphed over Zimbabwe in the 2011 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Bangladesh, while Zimbabwe took victory in the 2021 Qualifier on home soil.
USA Women’s National Head Coach Hilton Moreeng expressed excitement about the upcoming series, noting, “Playing ODI cricket gives us a great opportunity to test ourselves and improve in this format. It’s a unique challenge, but we’re confident in our talented squad and look forward to a successful tour in Zimbabwe.”
Tour Schedule:
- Thursday, October 17, 9:15am: 1st ODI
- Sunday, October 20, 9:15am: 2nd ODI
- Wednesday, October 23, 9:15am: 3rd ODI
- Saturday, October 26, 9:15am: 4th ODI
- Monday, October 28, 9:15am: 5th ODI
USA Cricket is eager to see how the team performs in this exciting series and continues to grow in the international ODI arena.
