USA Cricket has announced that Stuart Law is stepping down as head coach of the men’s national team, though the reasons for his departure remain undisclosed. CEO Johnathan Atkeison acknowledged the difficulty of the decision, noting that it was not made lightly.
The announcement came as a surprise, occurring during USA’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 campaign, just a day before their scheduled match against Nepal in Dallas.
Law, who took on the coaching role in April, led the team for just over seven months. His tenure included significant achievements, such as USA’s first-ever T20I series victory over Bangladesh and their historic advance to the Super Eights in the T20 World Cup. Co-hosting the tournament with the West Indies, the team earned memorable victories over Canada and Pakistan to progress.
In an official statement, Atkeison expressed appreciation for Law’s efforts, adding that despite Law’s contributions, the organisation felt a change was necessary to prepare for the next phase. Venu Pisike, Chair of USA Cricket, also extended gratitude for Law’s service and wished him success in future endeavours.
Currently, the USA team ranks second on the Cricket World Cup League 2 points table, boasting six wins out of nine matches. They are aiming for qualification in the 2027 ODI World Cup, marking a pivotal moment in the team’s journey.
