Afghanistan's Rashid Khan will undoubtedly grab the headlines at the T20 World Cup, but it was his heroics with the bat that had the IPL talking when he scored the winning runs with the last ball of the match for Gujarat Titans against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday (10 April). Rashid's 24 (11) and 1/18 earned him player of the match honours.
West Indies' Andre Russell could make a case for being the best all-rounder of the 2024 IPL so far, with quickfire scores of 41 (19) and 64 (25) to go with five wickets in four matches. Russell returned to the West Indies late last year for their home white-ball series against England and looks set to enjoy a home T20 World Cup. Sam Curran, a member of that England tour, has taken six wickets in the IPL, as well as scores of 63, 23, and 29 for Punjab Kings.
Ravindra Jadeja is another player who will play a key role in the T20 World Cup, having been dismissed just once in his late-over blitzes (84 runs at 140 strike rate) to go with his four wickets at an economy of 7.05.
