Sunrisers Hyderabad 167 for 0 win by ten wickets over Lucknow Super Giants 165 for 4
LSG tried to take advantage of the slow pitch by bowling K Gowtham's off-spin to the two left-arm openers, which was a good enough plan. With Head and Abhishek, however, plans seemed to matter little. Head pulled Gowtham for four in the first over and Abhishek had Yash Thakur bowled in the second. Again, Thakur seemed to be bowling to a solid plan: sweeper cover and deep-square leg, bowl into the pitch, but Abhishek pulled him in front of the square. So he put two men back on the leg-side and Abhishek made space and sliced him through point. By the time they had reached 25 in two overs, plans were no longer important.
Head and Abhishek just picked their spots and sent the ball there, no matter the pace of the ball, no matter the length, no matter the fields. In all, the ball made this journey to the boundary once every other ball. You can take your pick from Head's kneel-down six into the sight screen, Abhishek's lazy pick-up over wide long-on off Badoni's offspin, or his extra-cover drive for six to end the game... But try as you might, you would be hard-pressed to find a more incredible shot than Head's back-foot drive over long-off off Ravi Bishnoi for a huge six.
Head finished with 89 off 30 and Abhishek with 75 off 28. Gowtham's economy figures of 14.50 were the best of any LSG bowler.
