Former captain Saad Bin Zafar's unbeaten 33 guided Canada to a thrilling four-wicket victory over Nepal in a T20 match on Tuesday.
Nepal posted a score of 139 for six in their allotted 20 overs, but Canada successfully chased down the target with three balls remaining at Maple Leaf Cricket Ground.
Nepal's innings was anchored by an impressive 70-run opening partnership between Anil Sah, who scored 41, and Aasif Sheikh, who added 40, after Canada won the toss and opted to field first.
For Canada, captain Nicholas Kirton contributed 26 runs, while opener Dilpreet Bajwa chipped in with 25. Zafar’s powerful knock featured four boundaries and a six off just 18 balls, helping Canada reach 140 for six.
Tuesday’s game marked the fourth match in the six-game No Frills T20 Cup, featuring Canada, Nepal, and Oman. Canada had previously defeated Nepal by 14 runs but suffered an eight-wicket loss to Oman.
Canada will conclude their T20 series on Thursday with a match against Oman. Last month, the same teams competed in an ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series at the same venue, where Canada won all four games and moved to the top of the standings with an 8-4 record.
The World Cup League 2 consists of eight teams playing 36 one-day internationals across nine triangular series until December 2026. The top four teams will secure a spot in the World Cup qualifier, where the final four positions in the expanded 14-team Cricket World Cup will be decided. The remaining teams still have a shot at the qualifier through another tournament, with the top two advancing.
