Nottinghamshire Outlaws secured their second win in three days at the scenic Welbeck Cricket Club, with Brett Hutton's impressive 6 for 38 helping bowl out Yorkshire Vikings for 126, leading to an 83-run win in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.
Earlier, Yorkshire's Ben Coad delivered an excellent bowling performance, taking 4 for 14, while Dom Bess contributed with 3 for 26. Despite being put into bat, Nottinghamshire managed to post 209, thanks to Lyndon James' resilient 76, which included 10 fours and a six. Nottinghamshire struggled initially, reaching 60 for 5, but a partnership between James and Liam Patterson-White, who scored a run-a-ball 38, stabilised the innings.
In their innings, Nottinghamshire started poorly, with Coad striking early to reduce them to 25 for 3 in the powerplay. He dismissed Ben Slater and Jack Haynes in his first over and later bowled Freddie McCann. Haseeb Hameed, who had been in good form, was caught behind off Dom Leech, leaving Nottinghamshire at 60 for 5. James and Tom Moores then added 73 runs for the sixth wicket, with James reaching his fifty in 47 balls. After James was dismissed, Nottinghamshire's lower order added crucial runs.
Chasing 209, Yorkshire faced immediate setbacks, losing two wickets in the first three overs, including captain Shan Masood bowled behind his legs by Hutton. Finlay Bean's run-out, followed by quick dismissals of George Hill and Harry Duke, left Yorkshire struggling at 39 for 5. Hutton continued to exploit the variable bounce, bowling Matthew Revis and Dom Bess in consecutive overs. Despite some resistance from Coad and Dom Leech, Yorkshire's innings ended at 126, with James taking the final wicket.
