Nepal secured a dramatic Super Over win against the United States in the second match of their three-game T20I series held in Dallas on Sunday. The Rhinos successfully chased down a modest target of three runs in the one-over eliminator, sealing the series with one game left to play.
The contest reached the Super Over after both teams finished tied at 170 runs. Nepal, having won the toss and chosen to bat first, posted a competitive total of 170-6. Kushal Bhurtel was the standout performer, anchoring Nepal’s innings with an unbeaten 92 off 54 balls, including seven boundaries and six sixes. Anil Sah contributed a steady 25, while Gulsan Jha (19) and Rohit Paudel (18) added vital runs towards the end.
The USA responded in kind, reaching 170-8 in their 20 overs, pushing the game to a rare tie. Andries Gous led the charge for the hosts with 62 off 43 balls, supported by Saiteja Mukkamalla, who added 47 from 41 deliveries. Despite their strong start, the Americans lost wickets at crucial moments, slowing their momentum.
Nepal's bowling attack, led by Karan KC, who took 3-35, and Sompal Kami, who grabbed two wickets, including the key dismissals of Aaron Jones and Gous, played a crucial role in containing the USA's chase.
In the series opener on Friday, Nepal had already claimed victory by 17 runs, with Dipendra Singh Airee delivering an all-round performance at the Grand Prairie Stadium.
The final match of the series is set to take place on Monday, with Nepal looking to sweep the series against the United States.
