India-born cricketer Milind Kumar has achieved a rare milestone in ODI cricket, becoming the first player in history to finish an innings with exactly 155 runs. Playing for the USA against the UAE, Milind's explosive knock of 155 off 110 balls secured this distinctive record. While there have been 63 instances of scores between 150 and 159 in ODI cricket, no player had ever ended an innings at precisely 155—until now. This achievement comes in the 53-year history of ODI cricket, spanning 4,773 matches since the format's inception in 1971.
Milind is an accomplished batter, with a first-class cricket average close to 50, most of which he accumulated during his time in India’s domestic circuit. He was a key player for both Delhi and Sikkim in the Ranji Trophy and finished as the top run-scorer in the 2018-19 season with 1,331 runs. Additionally, Milind has been part of two IPL teams, the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
The 33-year-old also made headlines as part of the USA squad that surprised everyone by advancing to the Super 8s in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Milind’s 155 came during the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two, a key stage in the qualification process for the 2027 Cricket World Cup. His innings helped the USA post a formidable 339/4 in 50 overs, leading to a 136-run victory over the UAE.
Currently, the USA ranks second in the ICC CWC League Two standings, ahead of more experienced teams like the Netherlands and Scotland. They trail league leaders Canada by just two points, despite playing three fewer matches.
With 14 teams vying for a spot in the 2027 Cricket World Cup, the USA remains in contention for a place on the world stage.
