McMullen's Century Leads Scotland to Victory Over USA

A remarkable 151 from Brandon McMullen helped Scotland secure a 71-run win over the USA in their ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 clash in Dallas. McMullen’s explosive innings, which included 11 fours and six sixes, was his highest ODI score and was supported by Charlie Tear’s 51 and Michael Leask’s quick 33. Scotland added a stunning 119 runs in the final 10 overs, finishing on 317-5.

Scotland’s bowlers struck early, with Brad Currie taking two wickets in the powerplay. Though the USA fought back with contributions from Utkarsh Srivastava (67), Monak Patel (51), and Sanjay Krishnamurthi (49), Jack Jarvis’s 4-40 sealed Scotland's second series victory, pushing them into third place in the CWCL2 standings.

Batting first after USA’s decision to field, Scotland made a brisk start with Tear and Andrew Umeed. McMullen quickly settled in, reaching his half-century with powerful shots across the ground, while Tear also brought up a well-made fifty. When Tear was caught for 51, Scotland was 152-2 with 15 overs remaining. McMullen continued his impressive run, reaching a stunning century with support from Berrington and later Michael Jones.

In response, USA’s Shayan Jahangir attempted an aggressive start, but Currie quickly dismissed him. The hosts were reeling at 25-2 when captain Monak Patel and Sushant Modani rallied. However, Scotland’s Mark Watt and Jarvis struck timely blows to keep USA under pressure. Patel reached his fifty but was eventually caught by Berrington off Jarvis.

As USA's hopes began to wane, Srivastava’s half-century provided a late surge before Jarvis’s persistence ended his innings, sealing Scotland’s victory. Scotland’s final match in this series will be against Nepal on Monday.
