Kohli and Rohit Express Displeasure Over Fan Disruption During Practice in Melbourne

Ahead of the crucial Boxing Day Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), senior Indian cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with fan behaviour during their practice session. According to reports, the players were disturbed by the persistent demands of supporters at the nets, which disrupted their focus and preparation.

Kohli and Rohit, key figures in India’s lineup, were reportedly unhappy with fans instructing them to play specific shots, an act that hindered their intense practice routine. Both batters appeared visibly perturbed during and after the session, despite their commitment to preparing rigorously for the match.

This incident follows earlier measures taken by the Indian team to close practice sessions to the public after fans at the Perth Test allegedly hurled abuses and made jibes at players. The team management, along with Rohit, had taken a firm stance against such behaviour, aiming to create a focused environment for the players.

As India aims to take the lead in the series, currently tied 1-1, expectations are high for enhanced performances from Kohli and Rohit. While Kohli shone with a century in the first Test’s second innings, his other contributions have been modest. Rohit, who missed the first Test due to personal commitments, is yet to find his rhythm after returning to the middle order.

India’s historical record at the MCG is mixed, with eight losses in 14 matches. However, the team will draw confidence from their memorable victory at the venue in the 2020-21 series.
