IND Prepares for Boxing Day Test; AUS Begins Net Sessions

In preparation for the IND vs. AUS Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, the Indian cricket team opted to take a rest day after two days of rigorous training and net practices. Reports indicated that following their efforts to secure a draw in the third Test in Brisbane, the Indian players immediately started preparing for the fourth Test upon their arrival in Melbourne.

While India chose not to engage in any practice sessions on Monday, the Australian team was set to conduct their first net session since arriving in the city. This Test holds significant importance for India, as a victory is essential for maintaining their aspirations of clinching the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, as well as securing a place in the World Test Championship final for the third consecutive time.

Over the past few days, India’s training sessions have been marked by several injury scares. KL Rahul, who has been one of the standout performers for India in the series, encountered a sudden back injury risk. Similarly, captain Rohit Sharma was seen using an ice pack on his knee after being struck while batting in the nets. On the same day, he was observed practising with a baseball bat to refine his batting and fielding techniques. Rohit and Virat Kohli were among the first Indian players to hit the nets during their time in Melbourne, while fast bowler Akash Deep reportedly sustained a body blow during training. The Boxing Day Test is scheduled to begin on December 26 at the sold-out MCG stadium.
