The final match of the group stage of the Hong Kong One Day Tri-Series 2024 was played between Hong Kong and Canada at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok on Saturday 3rd February. Canada won by 56 runs. They posted 367-3 in 50 overs.
Canada finished top of the points table with two wins from as many matches. Their net run rate was +2.087. Malaysia, on the other hand, is second on the points table with one win from two matches and an NRR of -1.253.
Hong Kong are still winless in their two matches. They are third on the points table. Their NRR is -0.580.
Pargat Singh and Yuvraj Samra shine as Canada dominate with the bat against Hong Kong
Winning the toss, Hong Kong elected to field. Canada lost their first wicket in the third over when Navneet Dhaliwal was dismissed for just seven.
Yuvraj Samra and Pargat Singh took matters into their own hands and helped Canada to dominate. The duo added 242 runs for the second wicket. Both scored centuries.
Samra scored 124 off 137. Singh made 126 off 113. Shreyas Movva helped Canada to a massive total with a fine knock of 54 off 35. Hong Kong didn't get off to a good start. They lost two wickets for 43.
Before being dismissed in the 30th over, Nizakat Khan and Babar Hayat put on 81 runs for the third wicket.
Aizaz Khan played a blistering knock of 109 off 77, but it was not enough as Hong Kong was bundled out for 311. Ishwarjot Sohi, Harsh Thaker, and Nikhil Dutta took two wickets each for Canada.
For his explosive batting, Pargat Singh was named Player of the Match. The two teams will meet in the final to decide the winner of the three-team series.
