Glamorgan Dominates Surrey in Convincing Seven-Wicket Win

Glamorgan secured a dominant seven-wicket victory over Surrey in their Metro Bank One-Day Cup Group B match at the Kia Oval, after dismissing Surrey for just 121 runs in 34 overs.

Chasing a modest target, Glamorgan reached 123 for 3 in just 15.5 overs, with Colin Ingram leading the charge. Ingram hit a spectacular six over long-off against fast bowler James Taylor, finishing unbeaten on 39 from 26 balls. Opener Eddie Byrom also made a brisk 28, including a six and a four in Matt Dunn's first over, before being caught off Conor McKerr.

Surrey's batting struggled, with only Ben Foakes, scoring 44, and tailender McKerr, adding 25, making notable contributions. Surrey has now lost their first two matches in the One-Day Cup, while Glamorgan has won both of theirs.

Put into bat on a grassy surface, Surrey quickly found themselves at 11 for 3 as Glamorgan's bowlers Jamie McIlroy and Timm van der Gugten exploited the pitch conditions. Ryan Patel managed just one boundary before being caught off van der Gugten. Ben Geddes was dismissed first ball, and Dom Sibley fell for 6, caught at slip off McIlroy.

Foakes and Rory Burns briefly stabilised the innings with a 53-run partnership for the fourth wicket. However, Dan Douthwaite's consecutive deliveries dismissed Burns lbw and had Cam Steel caught behind. Surrey's woes continued as Josh Blake was run out for 2, leaving them at 73 for 6.

Foakes' innings, which included a pulled six and seven fours, ended when he was caught at slip off Andy Gorvin's medium pace. Gorvin also dismissed Yousef Majid for 7. McKerr's innings ended when Ben Kellaway, switching from right-arm spin to slow left-arm for the first time in a county match, bowled him. Dunn was leg-before to Kellaway, who finished with 2 for 16 from seven overs. McIlroy, Douthwaite, and Gorvin also took two wickets each.

In reply, Glamorgan's Will Smale and Byrom added 43 in just 5.5 overs for the first wicket. Kiran Carlson scored 16 before edging a delivery from Taylor to the keeper. Billy Root then partnered with Ingram to see Glamorgan to victory with 34.1 overs to spare.
