Canada's tour of the UAE ended on a high note with a five-wicket victory over Scotland, securing their fourth consecutive win and placing them at the top of the ICC ODI World Cup League 2 table.
Harsh Thaker was the standout performer, excelling with both bat and ball, taking 3 wickets for 41 runs in 10 overs and scoring an unbeaten 105 to lead his team to victory in the pursuit of 198. Ammar Khalid and Nicholas Kirton both made significant contributions. Khalid took two wickets for 33 runs in nine overs, while Kirton scored 44 runs and took a wicket during a brief three-over spell.
Saad Bin Zafar said after the match:
“As a captain, I couldn’t have asked for a better performance from my team for this Dubai leg of League 2. We played exceptional cricket. George Munsey, Richie [Berrington] and [Brandon] McMullen batted really well and put pressure on us. At one time I was thinking we might be chasing 260 but the way our bowlers bowled in the middle-overs and came back picking up crucial wickets at the right time, the way we restricted them to 197 a lot of credit goes to the bowling.”
The ICC ODI World Cup League 2 fixtures will be postponed until August when Canada will travel to the Netherlands for a tri-series that will also involve the USA.
