BCCI Announces INR 125 Crore Award for T20 World Champions India

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a bonus of INR 125 crore (approximately USD 15 million) for the Indian squad that won the T20 World Cup. This announcement was made by Board Secretary Jay Shah on social media, following India's thrilling seven-run victory over South Africa in the final held in Barbados.

"I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024," Shah posted. "The team has showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement!"

In addition to the BCCI's prize, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had already announced a cash prize of USD 2.45 million for the winners of this World Cup, along with an additional USD 31,154 for each match won (excluding the semi-finals and finals). This year’s ICC cash prize is the highest ever for the men's T20 World Cup, surpassing the USD 1.6 million won by England in 2022.

The overall prize money for the tournament has more than doubled from USD 5.6 million in 2022 to USD 11.25 million this year, increasing awards for all 20 participating teams. As runners-up, South Africa received USD 1.28 million, up from USD 800,000 in 2022. The losing semi-finalists, Afghanistan and England, each received USD 787,500, up from USD 400,000 in 2022.
