Bangladesh launched their training for the upcoming three-match ODI series at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, but without left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed and uncapped pacer Nahid Rana, who faced visa-related delays. According to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the two players have yet to travel to the UAE as their visas are still pending. The team management indicated that neither Nasum nor Nahid was initially planned to be in the playing XI for the first ODI.
BCB officials stated that both players would join the squad in the UAE as soon as they receive their visas. Shahriar Nafees, BCB’s cricket operations manager, explained, “We have not received their visas yet, so they have not been able to travel to Sharjah.”
He added that they hope to send the players on November 5, assuming the visas arrive shortly, though he noted the dates are uncertain until the visas are in hand.
Meanwhile, the rest of the squad had a full training session in Sharjah, marking the start of their preparations for the Champions Trophy scheduled for February and March next year. The team travelled from Dhaka in two groups, arriving in Dubai on November 3 and 4, ready for the series that kicks off on November 6, with the subsequent matches set for November 9 and 11.
Nasum and Nahid remain at the BCB Academy, awaiting their visas to depart for Dubai.
